Vurv Privacy Policy

We built Vurv to be privacy‑first. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep this page up to date and will post any changes here.

Effective Date: January 1, 2025

At a glance: We don’t sell your data. DMs are end‑to‑end encrypted. Biometric authentication (FaceID/TouchID) is required to decrypt messages on your device. You control your profile and can delete your account at any time.

Information We Collect

Account Information

Minimal information to create and maintain your account(s), such as a username, display name, age range, and optionally a photo or short bio. You may manage multiple accounts for privacy; each account keeps separate settings.

Content You Create

Posts, comments, reactions, and group names you submit in the Social Feed and Groups. You control what you share. You can edit or delete your content where features allow.

Direct Messages (DMs)

DMs are end‑to‑end encrypted. Message contents are unreadable to us; only you and your recipients hold the keys. We may process limited metadata necessary for delivery (e.g., sender, recipient IDs, timestamps), which we minimize and rotate.

Device & Usage

Basic diagnostics such as app version, device type, crash logs, and coarse usage analytics (e.g., feature interactions) to improve stability and user experience. You can opt out of analytics where offered.

Location

For Who’s Nearby, we use your approximate location to surface nearby profiles. You control location permissions, and you can disable or limit precision via your OS settings.

How We Use Information

Legal Bases

Where applicable (e.g., EU/UK), we process data under these bases: performance of a contract (providing Vurv), legitimate interests (safety, anti‑abuse, product improvement), consent (e.g., optional analytics), and legal obligations.

Encryption & Security

Data Sharing

We do not sell your data. We may share limited data with service providers who help us operate Vurv (e.g., cloud hosting, push notifications). These providers are bound by contractual confidentiality and security obligations.

Community Safety

We encourage positive behavior with karma and reactions. You can block profiles and report content quickly. Repeated violations reduce visibility and may lead to enforcement under our Terms.

Retention

We retain information only as long as necessary to provide the service and meet legal obligations. You can delete posts and messages on your devices. Account deletion starts removal of associated data from active systems, subject to lawful retention requirements and backup cycles.

Your Rights & Choices

To exercise rights, use in‑app settings or contact us at privacy@vurv.app. We may verify your request to protect your account.

International Transfers

If data is transferred across borders, we use appropriate safeguards (e.g., standard contractual clauses) consistent with applicable laws.

Cookies & Similar Technologies

Our marketing site may use strictly necessary cookies and minimal analytics to understand visits. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

Children

Vurv is for adults. We do not knowingly allow under‑age use. If you believe a minor is using Vurv, please report it via in‑app tools or email.

Changes to this Policy

We’ll update this page when practices change. If changes are material, we’ll provide additional notice in‑app or by other appropriate means.
